Park view from a Junior Suite at Four Points by Sheraton Suwon

Four Points Suwon Review: Junior Suite, Rooftop Pool and Breakfast

I did not expect much from another Four Points.

Then I booked the same suite again two months later.

That probably summarizes my experience at Four Points by Sheraton Suwon better than anything else.

I stayed here twice in 2024, first in July and again in September. On both visits, I booked the same Junior Suite with one king bed and a park view rather than relying on a Marriott Bonvoy upgrade.

The first stay cost KRW 250,800 for one night, while the second was KRW 269,500.

Both were remarkably similar — right down to the room.

And that was mostly a good thing.

The hotel is newer-feeling than many Four Points properties I have stayed at, the suite offered plenty of space for the price, breakfast was better than expected, and the 17th-floor pool gave me an actual reason to spend time at the hotel.

The main thing missing was an Executive Lounge.

Location: Suwon City Hall, Not Suwon Station

Four Points Suwon is in the Suwon City Hall and Ingye-dong area, rather than around Suwon Station.

On my first trip, I took a Mugunghwa train from Yeongdeungpo to Suwon Station, then transferred to the Suin-Bundang Line for Suwon City Hall Station.

Marriott currently describes the hotel as about a five-minute walk from Suwon City Hall Station. Hyowon Park, Na Hye Seok Street and Gyeonggi Arts Center are also nearby.

It is a practical location if your plans are centered on this part of Suwon.

There are plenty of restaurants and cafés around the hotel, and Hyowon Park is directly relevant if you book a park-view room.

Suwon’s historic sights are not immediately outside the door, but I spent part of my first stay exploring the older city anyway, eventually walking around Suwon Hyanggyo and Paldalmun before returning to the hotel.

First Impressions: Very Four Points, but Still New Enough

The lobby does not try particularly hard to surprise you.

That is not necessarily criticism.

It looks like a modern Four Points: clean, functional and familiar, with a few self-service facilities around the public spaces.

During my first visit, Suwon was extremely humid, so my strongest initial reaction to the lobby was simply gratitude that the air conditioning worked.

Luxury takes many forms.

The lobby follows the familiar modern Four Points formula: simple, bright and functional.

What mattered more was that the hotel still felt relatively fresh.

That became more obvious once I reached the room.

Junior Suite: The Reason I Came Back

I directly booked a Junior Suite, 1 King, Park View on both stays.

That distinction matters.

These were not heroic Platinum upgrades. I simply saw the suite rate, thought it looked reasonable, and paid for the room I wanted.

In July 2024, the total was KRW 250,800.

Two months later, I booked the same category again for KRW 269,500.

Marriott’s current photo gallery still lists the Junior Suite, including separate living room, bedroom and bathroom views.

The layout is not enormous by luxury-hotel standards, but this is a Four Points.

Within that context, it works very well.

I booked the same Junior Suite with one king bed on both of my 2024 stays.

The bedroom and small living area are partially separated, giving the room more structure than a standard open-plan guest room.

I particularly liked the park-facing side.

Looking down over the trees of Hyowon Park made the room feel noticeably calmer than another generic city view.

The bathroom was also larger than what I normally expect from Four Points.

The Junior Suite bathroom was more spacious than I expected from the brand.

There were also small local touches.

During my first stay, the room came with Korean snacks and drinks including yakgwa, sikhye and sujeonggwa.

They were simple amenities, but I liked them.

Yakgwa and traditional Korean drinks were a pleasant local touch during my stay.

When I returned in September, very little had changed.

The room was essentially the same.

The most notable addition was some macarons.

That may not sound like a compelling reason to revisit a hotel, and to be fair, it was not.

The room itself was.

Platinum Benefits: Breakfast, but No Lounge

I held Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status during both stays.

Four Points Suwon does not have an Executive Lounge, which is the biggest limitation for me as an elite member. This is not a missing guaranteed benefit: Four Points is currently one of the Marriott brands where Bonvoy’s Guaranteed Lounge Access benefit does not apply.

That makes the status experience quite different from a property such as Courtyard Suwon, where lounge access can become a substantial part of the stay.

At Four Points Suwon, I chose restaurant breakfast for two as my Platinum welcome benefit. That remains one of the current Four Points welcome-gift choices for Platinum Elite members and above under the Marriott Bonvoy terms.

My booking rate was separate from that benefit.

For these stays, I used a member offer called Premium Gourmet Journey, which included KRW 30,000 in food-and-beverage credit per night.

That was a 2024 promotion, so I would not treat it as a current hotel benefit.

I used the credit at the poolside bar in the evening.

It was a good combination: breakfast through Platinum status, then a separate dining credit from the paid rate.

For the prices I paid, the overall package felt quite reasonable.

The Pool: Four Points Suwon’s Best Trick

The facility that most clearly separates this hotel from many other Four Points properties is the pool.

The hotel currently lists an outdoor swimming pool and whirlpool. Marriott marks the outdoor pool as a paid facility and notes that it closes in winter, so access rules can vary by season and package.

During my 2024 stay, the rules were different.

My Junior Suite included pool access, reservations were required, and I could use the pool once during the stay.

I deliberately selected an evening adult-only period.

Then, shortly after I returned to the hotel, it started pouring.

Naturally.

Fortunately, much of the pool area was sheltered enough that the rain did not ruin the evening.

The 17th-floor pool turned out to be enjoyable even during a rainy summer evening.

Other guests seemed more interested in taking photos.

I was there to swim.

Both approaches appeared equally valid.

My companion mostly sat nearby with a beer while I used the pool, which also turned out to be a perfectly reasonable way to spend the evening.

The current access rules and packages have changed since my 2024 stays, and the pool is now officially listed as seasonal with a fee, so I would check the hotel’s latest conditions rather than booking based on my old arrangement.

But the basic appeal remains.

A rooftop-style pool with city views gives this otherwise straightforward Four Points a little more personality.

The Glow Poolside Bar

The pool is also where I used the KRW 30,000 dining credit included in my 2024 rate.

The Glow Poolside Dining & Bar still operates and is currently listed as open daily from 9:00 AM to midnight.

I would not describe it as a destination restaurant.

That was not really the point.

Having somewhere beside the pool to order a beer and something to eat made the facility much easier to enjoy as part of an evening at the hotel.

For my stay, the F&B credit made it even easier.

Breakfast at The Eatery

Breakfast is served at The Eatery on the 16th floor.

The restaurant currently operates breakfast from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM and overlooks Hyowon Park.

My expectations were modest.

It was a Four Points breakfast, after all.

It turned out to be better than expected.

The Eatery breakfast was better than I expected from a Four Points.

The buffet had enough variety to feel like a proper full breakfast rather than a token elite benefit.

What I remember most clearly is the pork kimchi stew.

There was plenty of pork in it, which made it particularly effective when combined with the rest of my breakfast.

Was it elegant?

Not especially.

Was I satisfied?

Very much so.

The exact buffet changes, of course, so I would not expect the same dishes on every visit.

But across my stay, breakfast was another area where Four Points Suwon performed above my expectations for the brand.

Fitness and Other Facilities

The hotel currently operates a complimentary 24-hour fitness center, and Marriott specifically lists Technogym cardio equipment.

I did not use the gym enough on these stays to give it a meaningful personal review, so I will leave the assessment there.

For me, the pool was clearly the more important leisure facility.

And unlike Courtyard Suwon, Four Points gives you an actual reason to bring a swimsuit.

Is Four Points Suwon Worth It?

For my two stays, yes.

The Junior Suite was the key.

At roughly KRW 250,000–270,000 per night in 2024, I received a proper separated living area, park view, a comfortable bedroom, a relatively spacious bathroom and access to a pool I genuinely enjoyed.

Platinum breakfast added additional value, while the promotional KRW 30,000 F&B credit attached to my 2024 rate made the overall value feel even better.

I liked the overall combination enough to book essentially the same stay again two months later.

That is probably a more useful endorsement than saying the room was “nice.”

The limitation is Bonvoy elite value.

There is no Executive Lounge, so Platinum status does not transform the experience in the way it can at a Courtyard with a functioning lounge.

Breakfast is useful.

A lounge would have been more useful.

Final Verdict

StayArchive Rating: 7.7/10

Four Points by Sheraton Suwon surprised me.

I originally booked it because a promotional rate made the Junior Suite look attractive.

Then I returned two months later and booked the same room again.

The Junior Suite, Hyowon Park view, rooftop pool and better-than-expected breakfast make this one of the more enjoyable Four Points stays I have had.

It is still a Four Points.

The room is comfortable rather than luxurious. The public areas are functional rather than memorable. And without an Executive Lounge, the hotel cannot fully capitalize on Marriott Bonvoy elite status.

But it gets the important practical things right.

If I were visiting Suwon again and found the Junior Suite at a similarly reasonable premium over a standard room, I would happily book it.

Apparently, I already proved that once.
