Four Points by Sheraton Josun, Seoul Myeongdong Review After Multiple Stays: 2026 Update

Four Points by Sheraton Josun, Seoul Myeongdong is a practical Marriott hotel near Euljiro 3-ga Station, with modern rooms, a fitness center, an on-site breakfast buffet, and convenient access to Myeongdong, Euljiro, Jongno, and other parts of central Seoul.

The hotel does not have a swimming pool or an executive lounge.

I first stayed here in 2021, shortly after it opened, and returned in 2023 and 2026. This review is based mainly on my most recent stay in February 2026, with earlier visits used for comparison.

My opinion of the hotel has changed more than the room layout has.

In 2021, I was disappointed by the lack of an upgrade and executive lounge. In 2026, the hotel was about a ten-minute walk from my office, and that turned out to be the more useful elite benefit.

Quick Verdict

Four Points Seoul Myeongdong is best for travelers who want a predictable Marriott stay with excellent subway access in central Seoul.

It is not a destination hotel. There is no pool, executive lounge, spa, or long list of facilities to keep guests entertained all day. Its strengths are the location, functional rooms, Marriott Bonvoy participation, and a breakfast buffet that was noticeably better in 2026 than during my first stay in 2021.

I would stay again for a reasonable rate, a useful Marriott promotion, or an early appointment in central Seoul. At a high cash price, I would compare nearby full-service hotels before booking.

Hotel at a Glance

Four Points Seoul Myeongdong is a select-service property rather than a full-service luxury hotel.

That distinction matters.

Travelers looking for a pool, spa, club lounge, or resort-style facilities should choose another hotel. Travelers who want a comfortable bed, breakfast, a gym, and easy public transportation may find it much more convincing.

The lobby and public Lounge & Bar are located on the fourth floor. Evolution restaurant, where breakfast is served, is on the third floor. Despite the name, the Lounge & Bar is not an executive lounge for Marriott Bonvoy elite members.

The hotel works best as a base for sightseeing or business travel. It is not designed to provide a full staycation itinerary.

Location: Myeongdong in Name, Euljiro in Practice

The hotel name says Myeongdong, but the immediate neighborhood feels more like Euljiro.

Four Points Seoul Myeongdong is very close to Euljiro 3-ga Station, with a subway exit almost beside the hotel. This makes it easy to travel around central Seoul without relying on taxis.

Euljiro 3-ga is an interchange station for Seoul Subway Lines 2 and 3, providing direct access to many major areas of the city. Numerous bus routes also pass through the surrounding streets, making the hotel especially convenient for travelers using public transportation.

The surrounding area includes restaurants, cafés, bars, offices, and the older alleyways associated with Euljiro. Myeongdong’s main shopping streets are within walking distance, but guests should not expect to step directly into the busiest retail district when leaving the hotel.

For me, the location was unusually practical. My office was approximately ten minutes away on foot.

During my 2026 stay, I could eat breakfast at 7:00 a.m., shower without creating laundry at home, and arrive at work by 8:00 a.m.

This was not glamorous hotel living. It was an optimized commute with Marriott points attached.

The hotel is also convenient for visiting Myeongdong, Euljiro, Cheonggyecheon Stream, Jongno, and Namsan. Its greatest location advantage is access to several central districts rather than direct placement inside one tourist area.

Why I Booked It Again in 2026

My February 2026 stay was partly motivated by a Marriott Double Night promotion.

I paid approximately KRW 190,000 for a Superior Room with a Namsan view. That was not especially cheap for a Four Points, but the promotion and proximity to my office made the rate easier to justify.

The hotel was also familiar. I already knew the room style, location, and general breakfast setup, so the booking required very little research.

Rates at this property have increased noticeably since its early years. Four Points Seoul Myeongdong is no longer an obvious bargain on every date, especially during busy travel periods.

I did not book it because I needed a luxury staycation.

I booked it because the promotion needed a night, my office needed me the next morning, and Marriott loyalty once again turned logistics into accommodation.

Check-In and Titanium Elite Benefits

Check-in during my 2026 stay was straightforward.

As a Titanium Elite member, I received breakfast and welcome drink vouchers. I used the vouchers for a draft beer and a canned Coke.

The exact drink choices and elite benefits may change, but the benefit was simple and useful.

The hotel does not have an executive lounge, so elite members should not expect complimentary evening food, cocktails, or a separate lounge space.

This bothered me much more during my first stay in 2021. At that time, I was still inclined to evaluate hotels partly by the total volume of benefits I could extract from them.

By 2026, I had become more practical.

A lounge would have been welcome. A ten-minute walk to work required much less emotional processing.

My First Stay in 2021

My first stay took place shortly after the hotel opened.

At check-in, I was handed a card saying that my room had been upgraded. I entered the room, saw no obvious evidence of an upgrade, and later asked the front desk about it.

The card had been given to me by mistake. It was apparently supposed to be a Wi-Fi information card.

This was an impressively efficient way to create disappointment where none had previously existed.

No upgraded room was available, and I was genuinely unhappy at the time. Several years later, I remember the incident mainly as evidence that I once had considerably more energy for upgrade disputes.

The hotel itself was still new, and the fourth-floor lobby felt clean, modern, and more polished than I expected from a typical select-service property.

That basic impression has remained consistent.

Superior Room with Namsan View

My 2026 room was a Superior Room with a Namsan view.

The design was familiar from previous visits: modern, straightforward, and functional. It provided enough space for a short city stay without pretending to be a large residential room.

The bed, desk, seating, and storage were arranged efficiently. The room worked well for sleeping, preparing for work, and briefly using a laptop.

This is not the kind of hotel where the room itself becomes the main attraction. The design is comfortable but restrained, which is appropriate for the brand.

The bathroom also followed the practical Four Points formula. Refillable dispensers were already in use during my first stay in 2021 and remained part of the room setup.

Travelers who value consistency should be comfortable here. Travelers expecting large suites, luxury finishes, or elaborate amenities should adjust their expectations.

Namsan View and Other Room Directions

The view depends on the room direction.

During my first stay in 2021, I received a north-facing room. It overlooked offices, rooftops, and the dense urban landscape of central Seoul.

My 2026 room faced Namsan, which is likely to be the more popular direction for many travelers. On a clear day, the skyline feels more recognizable and gives the room a stronger sense of place.

This snowy Namsan view was photographed during my 2023 stay. My main room assessment is based on February 2026.

Still, this is a city hotel surrounded by dense development. Guests should expect an urban view rather than a private landscape.

The northern view is not necessarily bad. It simply offers a less postcard-friendly version of Seoul.

Breakfast at Evolution

Breakfast is served at Evolution on the third floor.

The hot breakfast buffet at Evolution, located on the third floor.

This was one of the clearest differences between my first stay in 2021 and my 2026 visit.

During the 2021 stay, breakfast felt limited. There was relatively little substantial food, and I would not have recommended paying separately for it based on that experience.

By 2026, the buffet was noticeably better.

The breakfast selection was noticeably more substantial in 2026 than during my first stay in 2021.

The selection was more satisfying, and the overall quality felt appropriate for a hotel operated by Josun Hotels & Resorts. There was enough variety for a proper breakfast rather than a quick plate assembled out of obligation.

The 2026 buffet offered enough variety for a full breakfast before work or sightseeing.

I arrived when the restaurant opened at 7:00 a.m. because I needed to reach the office by 8:00.

Unfortunately, several tour groups had the same strategy.

The restaurant became busy almost immediately. Guests who prefer a quiet breakfast should not assume that opening time guarantees peace. Tour schedules can make the earliest period one of the busiest.

The food itself was decent, and the improvement since 2021 was significant enough to change my opinion of the hotel’s breakfast.

One small disappointment was the lack of takeaway coffee.

For a hotel used by both tourists and business travelers, portable caffeine would have been useful. I had a workday and no intention of becoming more patient.

Executive Lounge, Pool, and Fitness Center

Four Points Seoul Myeongdong does not have an executive lounge.

The fourth-floor Lounge & Bar is a public venue, not a club lounge for Marriott Bonvoy elite members. Titanium and Platinum members should not expect complimentary evening food or lounge access.

The hotel also does not have a swimming pool.

Families or staycation guests who consider a pool essential should look at other hotels in Seoul. For a short sightseeing trip, business stay, or promotion-driven stay, the absence may not matter.

A fitness center is available for guests. It is a supporting facility rather than a reason to choose the hotel by itself, but it should be sufficient for a basic workout during a short stay.

What Changed Between 2021 and 2026?

The hotel’s basic proposition did not change.

It remained a modern, centrally located Four Points without a pool or executive lounge.

Several parts of my experience did change:

  • Breakfast was noticeably better in 2026.
  • Room rates felt less inexpensive than during the hotel’s early period.
  • The location became more useful because I was working nearby.
  • I cared less about receiving an upgrade.
  • I understood the hotel better as a practical base rather than a staycation destination.

In 2021, I left early because there was little to do inside the hotel.

In 2026, I left early because I had to go to work.

This was progress of some kind.

Final Verdict

Four Points by Sheraton Josun, Seoul Myeongdong is not a destination hotel. It is a practical central Seoul base with a location that does most of the work.

My first stay in 2021 left me wondering why I would return to a hotel without a lounge or pool. Several stays later, the answer became simple: the rooms were familiar, the subway was close, breakfast had improved, and I could reach my office before many people had finished commuting.

I once cared considerably more about upgrades and lounge access.

In 2026, a ten-minute walk to work was enough to restore perspective.

I would stay again for a reasonable price, a Marriott promotion, or a visit focused on Myeongdong, Euljiro, Jongno, or nearby offices.

If the cash rate were close to that of a full-service hotel, I would compare alternatives before booking.
