Best Marriott Hotels in Western Seoul: Which One Should You Choose?
Seoul has Marriott hotels almost everywhere, but the properties on the western side of the city form an unusually varied group.
There is a lifestyle hotel in the middle of Hongdae, a serviced apartment in Yeouido, business-oriented hotels in Magok and Guro, two very different options around Yeongdeungpo, and a newer Tribute Portfolio property tucked between Guro and Sindorim.
I have stayed at all seven of them.
That does not mean there is one obvious winner.
In fact, the opposite is true.
There is no single best Marriott in western Seoul — the right choice depends almost entirely on why you are staying there.
A tourist who wants nightlife should not make the same choice as a family staying for a week. Someone catching an early flight from Gimpo Airport has different priorities from a Marriott Bonvoy member trying to earn an Elite Night Credit as cheaply as possible.
One clarification before starting: “western Seoul” is a practical label in this guide, not an official local region name. I am using it broadly for Marriott properties on the western side of the city, roughly west of central Seoul, including Hongdae, Magok, Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo, Sindorim and Guro.
That broad definition gives us seven properties worth comparing.

The Short Answer
If you are visiting western Seoul as a tourist, I would start with RYSE.
For the strongest value, particularly on a longer-stay rate, The Link Seoul is difficult to beat.
For families or anyone staying for a week or longer, Marriott Executive Apartments Seoul is the most practical.
If you want the most balanced conventional hotel experience, especially for a weekend that includes shopping and time inside the hotel, Courtyard Seoul Times Square is my pick.
For airport access, particularly Gimpo Airport, choose Courtyard Seoul Botanic Park.
If your office is in Guro Digital Complex, Four Points Seoul Guro still makes sense when the rate is reasonable.
And if the primary objective is simply to earn a Marriott Bonvoy Elite Night Credit while spending as little as possible, Fairfield Seoul remains the most obvious candidate.
RYSE, Autograph Collection: Best for Tourists and Hongdae
Among these seven hotels, RYSE is the easiest one for me to recommend to a leisure traveler.
The reason is not complicated.
It is in Hongdae.
That means cafés, restaurants, shopping, bars and nightlife are immediately outside the hotel. You do not need to manufacture a reason to spend the evening in the neighborhood because the neighborhood is already one of Seoul’s busiest entertainment districts.
That matters because RYSE itself is not a traditional resort-style Marriott. Marriott currently lists a complimentary fitness center, but no swimming pool or conventional executive lounge. In my experience, the gym is functional rather than memorable.
Instead, the hotel leans into design, comfortable rooms and its location.
I have stayed here three times, including Editor Rooms and suite categories, and the combination of good bedding, distinctive interiors and generally friendly service has kept me coming back. The basic rooms also feel more intentionally equipped than many comparable business hotels.
Its biggest weakness today is price.
When RYSE is meaningfully cheaper than Seoul’s full-service luxury hotels, I find it easy to recommend. When the price climbs close to hotels with pools, lounges and more extensive wellness facilities, the lack of those extras becomes harder to ignore.
Airport access also deserves some nuance. Hongik University Station has AREX service, but RYSE is not directly beside the airport-rail platforms. The walk through the large station complex is noticeable with luggage.
Still, if someone told me they wanted to stay specifically on the western side of Seoul for sightseeing and leisure, this would be my first recommendation.

The Link Seoul: Best Value and Best Breakfast
The Link Seoul is almost the reverse of RYSE.
I like the hotel more than I like its location.
I stayed here for 16 nights in total, including a 15-night stay on a discounted long-stay rate. That amount of time revealed strengths that are easy to overlook on a one-night visit.
The rooms are modern and comfortable. The hotel is relatively new. The free guest washing machines and dryers I used during my long stay became surprisingly valuable after several days. Staff handled repeated requests well throughout my long stay and became familiar enough that the hotel started to feel genuinely comfortable rather than merely temporary.
And then there is breakfast.
FRAME serves the best breakfast of these seven properties in my experience.
The buffet was large enough to provide variety without becoming absurd, hot dishes rotated regularly, fruit quality was consistently strong, and I still wanted to eat there again after fifteen mornings.
That is a fairly demanding test for any breakfast buffet.
The compromise is geography.
The Link sits between Guro and Sindorim. Guro Station is walkable, but it is not directly outside the hotel. Sindorim is farther away. The immediate neighborhood feels more residential than touristic, and there is very little nearby that would make an overseas visitor say, “Yes, this is exactly where I wanted to stay in Seoul.”
You can take a bus toward Yeouido without much trouble.
But for a tourist, the question remains:
why this particular location?
The answer is usually price.
When a long-stay promotion brings the rate down far enough, the rooms, breakfast, laundry and service easily compensate for the location. That is why I consider The Link the best value of this group under the right rate conditions.

Marriott Executive Apartments Seoul: Best for Families and Long Stays
If RYSE is the most obvious tourist choice, Marriott Executive Apartments Seoul is the easiest family recommendation.
This property makes much more sense once you stop comparing it with an ordinary hotel.
The larger apartments have proper living rooms, and Marriott currently lists full kitchens and in-room laundry facilities. You can cook an actual meal. You can wash a week of clothing without sending it to hotel laundry. A child can go to sleep in one room while adults remain awake in another.
For a three-night city break, that may not matter much.
For ten nights, it matters a great deal.
The wellness facilities strengthen the case further. Marriott currently lists an indoor swimming pool, sauna and extensive fitness facilities, and in my experience the pool works much more like a proper lap pool than a decorative leisure pool.
Yeouido is also a good neighborhood for this type of stay. Yeouido Park is nearby, while IFC Mall and The Hyundai Seoul add dining and shopping options. It is a business district, but it no longer feels like a place with nothing to do after offices close.
The downside is age.
The property does not have the fresh visual impression of The Link, and some of the interior design was already showing its age during my 2021 stay. My first apartment also had a serious musty smell, although the hotel moved me after I raised the issue.
I returned in 2026 to revisit the property and breakfast rather than to stay overnight again, and the basic proposition still made sense.
This is not where I would send every first-time visitor.
It is where I would send a family, a relocation guest or someone planning to temporarily live in Seoul rather than simply sleep in Seoul.

Courtyard Seoul Times Square: The Best All-Rounder
Courtyard Seoul Times Square surprised me.
I had ignored it for years because there never seemed to be an especially compelling reason to stay there.
Then I finally did.
The result was probably the most balanced hotel experience in this group.
The rooms were larger and better maintained than I expected. Breakfast at MoMo Cafe was strong. The fitness center was genuinely substantial. Marriott currently lists Lounge 15 as complimentary for Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador Elite members plus one guest, with light snacks, coffee and soft drinks, even though the old happy-hour format is gone.
The biggest advantage, however, is downstairs.
The hotel is connected to Times Square Mall, one of Yeongdeungpo’s major shopping and entertainment complexes.
That means restaurants, shopping, cafés, Shinsegae Department Store and plenty of ways to spend time without making another journey across Seoul.
If I had to choose one of these seven for something resembling a simple weekend staycation, this would be it.
There is no pool or spa, so I would not pretend it competes with Seoul’s luxury staycation hotels. But within this particular group, it gives you the most complete “stay in and around the hotel” experience.
It is also my preferred option here for Marriott Bonvoy elites, not because the benefits are spectacular, but because the overall package feels balanced and my service experience was particularly friendly.
Fairfield is nearby, but the comparison changes quickly when the rate difference is small. If Fairfield is only around KRW 50,000–70,000 cheaper, I would personally choose the Courtyard without much hesitation. The better breakfast and broader facilities justify the difference for me.

Courtyard Seoul Botanic Park: Best for Airport Access
Courtyard Seoul Botanic Park is the hotel I would choose when transport matters more than entertainment.
It sits near Magongnaru Station, with both Line 9 and AREX access. Marriott currently lists Gimpo International Airport just 3 km from the hotel, while Incheon Airport is also straightforward to reach by Airport Railroad.
That makes it especially useful for one- or two-night business trips, early flights, late arrivals or itineraries involving both Seoul and domestic flights.
Magok has developed considerably, and Seoul Botanic Park gives the neighborhood more open space than most business districts.
Still, this would not be my first leisure recommendation if Hongdae, central Seoul or nightlife were the actual purpose of the trip.
My own stay was also heavily influenced by an upgrade.
I started in a standard room and eventually moved to a Courtyard Suite, which transformed the experience. The separate living room, large bathroom, park view and LG Styler made the hotel substantially more memorable.
That is why I am careful not to pretend every standard-room guest will reproduce my 8.2/10 experience.

Four Points Seoul Guro: Best When Guro Is Actually the Destination
Four Points Seoul Guro is not a hotel I would choose simply because it happens to appear cheaply in a Marriott search.
I would choose it because I needed to be in Guro Digital Complex.
That distinction matters.
The location is practical for offices in Guro and Gasan. Marriott places the hotel in G-Valley and lists Guro Digital Complex Station as a short walk away. The hotel provides the basic full-service features expected from Four Points, and breakfast during my stay was better than expected.
The hardware, however, feels old.
That was manageable when I paid roughly KRW 109,000 in 2024.
At significantly higher rates, the same room becomes much harder to defend.
I still place it above Fairfield in terms of the overall hotel package. You get a more conventional full-service environment, and under Marriott Bonvoy’s current Platinum Elite welcome-gift rules, Platinum members and above at Four Points can choose restaurant breakfast for the member and one guest.
But both hotels share the same basic rule:
they need to be priced appropriately.

Fairfield by Marriott Seoul: Best for a Cheap Marriott Night
Fairfield is the easiest hotel in this article to understand.
You stay here because it is cheap enough.
Or at least you should.
I have used the property several times, mainly during Marriott promotions. Years ago, rates in the high KRW 50,000 range made the logic obvious: check in, earn a qualifying night, sleep if necessary, and move on.
My latest booking was closer to KRW 140,000.
At that point, the calculation changed.
The hotel is still very close to Yeongdeungpo Station, staff have consistently been friendly, and the rooms are clean. Marriott’s current property page lists a fitness center but no complimentary breakfast; overall facilities remain limited, elite benefits are modest, and both railway and road noise can be an issue depending on room orientation.
This is not where I would spend a weekend enjoying the property.
It is where I would stay if I wanted a relatively inexpensive Marriott Bonvoy Elite Night Credit or simply needed a bed near Yeongdeungpo Station while spending almost all of my time outside the hotel.
And that is perfectly legitimate.
Just make sure the price supports the strategy.

Which Marriott in Western Seoul Should You Choose?
For tourism and nightlife, choose RYSE.
For value, breakfast and a longer hotel stay without needing a full apartment, choose The Link Seoul.
For families, relocation or extended stays, choose Marriott Executive Apartments Seoul.
For the most balanced conventional hotel experience, especially if shopping and spending time around the property matter, choose Courtyard Seoul Times Square.
For Gimpo Airport, AREX access or a short western-Seoul business trip, choose Courtyard Seoul Botanic Park.
For Guro Digital Complex business, Four Points Seoul Guro still works when the price is right.
And for a cheap Marriott night or mattress run, Fairfield remains the specialist.
Notice that none of those recommendations required choosing an overall winner.
That is the point.
My Personal Return Order
If I were spending my own money and simply deciding which of these hotels I felt like revisiting, my order would be:
RYSE → The Link Seoul → Marriott Executive Apartments → Courtyard Seoul Times Square → Courtyard Seoul Botanic Park → Four Points Seoul Guro → Fairfield Seoul.
That is a personal return order, not an objective ranking.
RYSE wins because Hongdae gives me the most to do. The Link combines new rooms, excellent breakfast and very good long-stay value. Marriott Executive Apartments offers space and wellness facilities that most normal hotels cannot match.
Courtyard Times Square comes very close behind them because it is probably the most balanced hotel in the group.
Botanic Park is a perfectly good hotel but one I would choose mainly for location.
Four Points Guro and Fairfield sit at the bottom largely because their appeal depends so heavily on price — and in Fairfield’s case, because I have already completed enough Marriott mattress runs there for one lifetime.
Final Verdict
The Marriott hotels on Seoul’s western side are not a collection of interchangeable business hotels.
They solve very different problems.
RYSE uses its neighborhood.
The Link uses value, breakfast and long-stay practicality.
Marriott Executive Apartments provides genuine residential infrastructure.
Courtyard Times Square offers the best balance of hotel facilities and things to do nearby.
Courtyard Botanic Park makes airport and Magok travel easy.
Four Points Guro works when business takes you specifically to Guro.
Fairfield works when your hotel requirements are essentially bed, Bonvoy credit, done.
So I would not ask which Marriott is “best” in western Seoul.
I would ask a simpler question:
What do you actually need the hotel to do?
Once that is clear, the answer becomes much easier.
