Four Points by Sheraton Josun Seoul Station Review: Rooms, Location and What to Know

I booked Four Points by Sheraton Josun, Seoul Station twice: once in 2021 and again in 2023.
I slept there exactly zero times.
That is usually not an encouraging start to a hotel review.
The reasons, however, were different. My first visit went badly enough that I chose to go home rather than stay the night. The second was essentially a Marriott elite-night run, and I had never really intended to sleep there in the first place.
That leaves me with an unusual hotel to review. I cannot tell you whether the mattress produces eight perfect hours of sleep. I can tell you about the rooms, the railway views, Marriott Bonvoy benefits, the somewhat misleading reality of the “Seoul Station” location — and one 2021 service experience that remains among my least enjoyable hotel stays.
Fortunately, there is more to the hotel than that one bad visit.
Quick Verdict: Is Four Points Seoul Station Worth It?
It can be, if convenience and Marriott Bonvoy benefits matter more to you than the hotel experience itself.
Four Points Seoul Station is a practical business hotel with compact standard rooms, useful access to Seoul Station, a fitness center and surprisingly good west-facing views. Marriott’s official room information lists work desks, mini-fridges, free Wi-Fi and large windows among the standard room features.
Its biggest strength is transportation. Its biggest location-related weakness is that the hotel is not nearly as close to the actual railway platforms as the name may suggest.
My personal rating of 6.8/10 is heavily affected by a poor room-condition and service experience in 2021. I returned in 2023 without similar drama, although that visit was deliberately little more than an elite-night run.
Best for: Marriott Bonvoy members, short business stays, KTX travelers and visitors who value transport connections over neighborhood atmosphere.
Less ideal for: travelers expecting a hotel immediately beside the AREX platforms, light sleepers choosing a railway-facing room, or anyone looking for a hotel with substantial leisure facilities.
Location: Connected to Seoul Station, but Bring Your Walking Shoes
The hotel is at 366 Hangang-daero in Yongsan-gu, south of the main Seoul Station complex. Josun Hotels & Resorts describes it as a business-class lifestyle hotel aimed at independent travelers.
The important word here is connected.
Yes, you can reach the hotel through the underground passage connected to Seoul Station. But “connected to Seoul Station” should not be interpreted as “step out of the elevator and board a train.”
Even Marriott’s official hotel information puts the walk from Seoul Station at roughly 8–15 minutes, depending on the route. Seoul Station is enormous, and different transport services occupy very different parts of it.
This matters most for the AREX Airport Railroad. The Airport Railroad facilities sit on the western side of the station complex, with the Express Train reached through the Airport Railroad levels below the station. Incheon Airport’s official AREX guide shows the Seoul Station airport-rail facilities on multiple underground levels. If you are coming from the hotel with a large suitcase, you effectively have to cross a substantial portion of Seoul Station before reaching the AREX area.
So yes, this is a useful hotel for airport and KTX access.
No, it is not an airport-railroad hotel in the sense of rolling out of bed and onto the platform five minutes later.
The immediate neighborhood also has more personality than the station setting initially implies. Huam-dong is just behind the hotel, and I used both visits as an excuse to wander around its hills and cafés.
It is not Myeongdong, but there are worse ways to kill a hotel elite-night run than coffee and a walk through Huam-dong.
Superior Room: Compact but Perfectly Normal for a Business Hotel
Both of my visits were in a Superior Room.
The current Josun app lists the Superior category at 23 square meters, while Deluxe Guest Rooms offer a much roomier 36 square meters.
Twenty-three square meters is compact, but I do not consider the room size a problem. This is a business-focused Four Points in central Seoul, not a resort.
My problem in 2021 was the condition in which I found it.
The room design itself is simple and functional: bed, work area, storage and the essentials you would expect from the brand. Marriott currently highlights work desks, mini-fridges, large windows and its Four Points bedding across the property.
There is nothing particularly luxurious about it, but there does not need to be.
The bathroom follows the same philosophy: straightforward, compact and adequate for a short stay.
Why I Left in 2021
My first visit was supposed to help complete a Marriott elite-status run.
The room did not make a good first impression.
The bed did not appear to have been properly made, and I found visible hair and dust that made me question whether the room had been properly cleaned before my arrival.
I asked to change rooms.
I was told that another room was not available, and the way the situation was initially handled frustrated me even more than the lack of another room. The complaint escalated, I spoke with a manager, and eventually I decided that I would rather go home than sleep there.
Looking back five years later, I probably handled the complaint more aggressively than I would today. I was younger, annoyed and not particularly interested in diplomacy.
But I would separate that from the underlying problem: the room condition itself was poor enough that I did not want to stay in it.
The later service recovery was much better.
A manager called me afterward, apologized and offered to take better care of me on a future visit. I told him rather candidly that I did not particularly want another visit.
When he learned that I had an upcoming stay at The Westin Josun Seoul, another Josun property, he offered instead to arrange an upgrade there. I was indeed upgraded when that stay came around.
So I would not describe the entire service response as poor. The initial handling disappointed me; the management-level recovery was considerably more proactive.
The 2023 Return: A Much Less Dramatic Air Stay
For reasons that probably make sense only to people who have spent too much time thinking about hotel status, I came back in 2023.
Again, it was an elite-night run.
This time I was not planning to sleep at the hotel anyway, so I asked for a railway-facing room and spent some time enjoying the view before heading home.
Nothing dramatic happened.
Sometimes that is all I ask of a Four Points.
Railway View: Noise in Exchange for Sunset
If there is one feature I genuinely enjoyed on both visits, it is the open view.
Rooms facing the railway have an obvious trade-off. The tracks mean more train noise, so I would hesitate to recommend this side to a particularly sensitive sleeper.
But the railway also prevents another building from sitting immediately in front of you.
The result is an unusually open urban panorama.
Around sunset, it gets considerably better.
The hotel occupies the upper floors of the building, and Josun Hotels itself highlights the panoramic Seoul views as one of the property’s features. The restaurant and lounge also make use of the elevated city outlook.
For me, this remains the easiest thing about the hotel to recommend.
Breakfast, THE eatery and Marriott Bonvoy Benefits
I have managed to visit this hotel twice without ever eating its breakfast.
In 2021, I selected breakfast as my Marriott elite welcome benefit — and then went home before morning.
In 2023, knowing full well that I was not staying overnight, I chose the points instead.
So I cannot personally tell you whether the current breakfast is good.
The hotel’s main restaurant is THE eatery, on the 19th floor, while THE lounge & bar occupies the same elevated part of the hotel. Josun Hotels promotes THE eatery for its panoramic downtown views as well as its buffet offerings.
Under the current Marriott Bonvoy Elite Welcome Gift rules, Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador members at Four Points properties can choose 500 points per stay, an amenity, or restaurant breakfast for the member and one guest. Enhanced room upgrades remain subject to availability.
That also means I do not count the lack of an upgrade on my stay as a service failure. An availability-based benefit is exactly that: availability-based.
On my 2021 booking I also had an F&B benefit to use, which created the slightly absurd situation of going home, then returning to the hotel because I still had food credit to spend.
The food itself was fine.
It was not quite delicious enough to make me forgive everything that had happened earlier, but that is an unreasonable burden to place on dinner.
Facilities: The Basics, Not a Resort
Current facilities include a complimentary fitness center, business facilities and meeting space. There is no swimming pool.
That is entirely consistent with the hotel’s positioning.
If you want a pool, executive lounge, spa and enough facilities to spend the weekend inside the building, this is the wrong category of hotel.
If you need a bed, desk, gym, restaurant and useful transport connections, it makes much more sense.
Is Four Points Seoul Station Good Value?
This depends heavily on price.
At a sufficiently reasonable rate, I can understand the appeal. You get a Marriott Bonvoy property near one of Korea’s most important transport hubs, straightforward rooms and potentially excellent views.
I would be less enthusiastic if the price approached that of stronger full-service hotels in central Seoul.
I would also seriously consider paying extra for the 36-square-meter Deluxe room on a longer stay. A 23-square-meter Superior is fine for one night, but luggage has an irritating tendency to occupy more floor space than its owner.
Final Verdict: 6.8/10
My relationship with Four Points Seoul Station is admittedly strange.
I have booked it twice.
I have checked into it twice.
I have slept there zero times.
The first visit was genuinely bad. My room condition was below what I considered acceptable, and the initial response to my complaint made the situation worse. Management ultimately handled the recovery much more seriously, which deserves recognition.
The second visit was perfectly uneventful, although I had deliberately booked it as an elite-night run and never intended to stay overnight.
Today, I see the hotel as a practical Marriott option rather than a hotel worth seeking out for its own sake.
The rooms are compact but reasonable. The transport access is useful, though less effortless than the name implies. The railway side can be noisy, but it also produces the hotel’s best feature: a surprisingly good view across western Seoul.
Would I personally book it again?
Probably not.
But unlike my considerably younger 2021 self, I am no longer prepared to declare it the worst hotel in Seoul either.
6.8/10.
Sometimes five years is enough time for both a hotel review and its author to calm down.
