Marriott Executive Apartments Seoul Review: Yeouido Long-Stay Value

Marriott Executive Apartments in Yeouido is one of those Seoul properties that makes much more sense once you stop thinking of it as a conventional hotel.
I stayed here for one night in September 2021, originally booking a Studio Suite and eventually receiving a 1 Bedroom Executive Suite. I was Marriott Titanium Elite at the time, although Marriott Executive Apartments does not formally provide the standard elite benefits that apply at most Marriott hotels.
My stay had an unusual mix of strengths and one very memorable problem.
The suite was enormous by Seoul standards, with a proper living room, full kitchen, washing machine and dryer. The fitness facilities were excellent. There was a real lap pool, a spacious sauna and enough exercise equipment to make the gym feel more like a private club than a hotel afterthought.
Then my first room developed a serious musty smell.
I eventually asked to move.
The second room had a worse view but no smell, which was a trade I was extremely happy to make.
I returned in August 2026, not to stay again but to revisit the lobby and have breakfast at Park Cafe. That gave me a useful chance to see how the property has aged — and, more importantly, how Marriott Executive Apartments has changed within Bonvoy.
The verdict is actually more favorable now than it was in 2021.
This is still an older serviced apartment. But for travelers staying in Seoul for more than a few nights, especially families, business travelers and anyone who values cooking and laundry facilities, it remains unusually complete.
The property has been operating for years, and the architecture is not new — but its location in Yeouido remains one of its strongest advantages.Quick Verdict: Who Is Marriott Executive Apartments Seoul For?
This is not the Marriott I would recommend to everyone visiting Seoul for three nights.
For a first-time tourist whose itinerary is concentrated around Myeongdong, Bukchon, Gyeongbokgung and Jongno, I would probably choose something more central.
But the calculation changes if you are staying longer.
Marriott Executive Apartments offers something many Seoul hotels simply do not:
space and actual household infrastructure.
You can cook properly. You can wash and dry your clothes inside the apartment. In the larger suites, the bedroom and living room are genuinely separate. You also get unusually strong wellness facilities, including a proper indoor swimming pool and a serious fitness center.
That combination makes it particularly compelling for:
- extended business trips
- families
- relocation stays
- travelers spending one or two weeks in Seoul
- guests who dislike sending every shirt to hotel laundry
- anyone who eventually gets tired of eating three restaurant meals every day
Marriott itself currently markets the property for both long-term and short-term business travelers and families, and even offers dedicated 14-night and 30-night packages.
The concept is clear.
This is somewhere to live temporarily, not simply somewhere to sleep.
I returned in 2026 to revisit the public areas. The lobby still feels understated and residential rather than like a large conventional hotel.Location: Yeouido Works Surprisingly Well for Longer Stays
The property sits in Yeouido, Seoul’s major financial and business district.
During my stay, I found it roughly a seven-to-eight-minute walk from Yeouido Station.
That is not the same as walking out of your lobby directly into the subway, but I would still consider the location good.
The larger advantage is the neighborhood itself.
Yeouido Park is right nearby, while IFC Mall and The Hyundai Seoul are within the broader district. Marriott currently highlights Yeouido Park, The Hyundai Seoul and IFC among the property’s key nearby attractions.
For a longer stay, that matters more than being directly beside one famous tourist sight.
You have:
- subway access
- offices
- supermarkets and malls
- restaurants
- riverside and park space
- relatively easy access toward both central Seoul and western Seoul
And unlike many dense parts of Seoul, Yeouido gives you places to walk without immediately entering another shopping street.
I particularly liked taking a morning walk through the neighborhood after breakfast.
It felt less like sightseeing and more like temporarily having an address in Seoul.
1 Bedroom Executive Suite: An Apartment, Not a Big Hotel Room
I had originally booked a Studio Suite.
At check-in, I was assigned a 1 Bedroom Executive Suite, which is currently listed at around 61 square meters.
That was a meaningful upgrade.
This is not one of those hotel upgrades where the new room has exactly the same sofa but the marketing department has added the word “Executive.”
The layout actually changes.
The 1 Bedroom Executive Suite has a genuinely separate living room, which makes a much bigger difference on longer stays than a few extra square meters around the bed.There was a proper living room with seating and enough space to spend time outside the bedroom.
The style was already somewhat dated in 2021.
Dark wood, traditional furniture and older finishes made the apartment feel more mature than contemporary.
But the quality of the original materials was reasonably obvious. It did not feel cheap, just old.
That distinction matters.
An inexpensive room built badly ten years ago tends to age badly.
A room built well fifteen or twenty years ago can simply become unfashionable.
This property was closer to the second category.
The bedroom was separate from the living area, reinforcing the feeling of staying in a real apartment rather than an oversized hotel room.The bedroom was straightforward and comfortable, and the suite had a west-facing outlook over Yeouido.
I could see KBS and parts of Yeouido Park, and the afternoon light was one of the nicest parts of the room.
The cover photo for this review was taken from that first apartment.
Unfortunately, the view did not survive the entire stay.

The Real Advantage: Kitchen and Laundry
The biggest difference between Marriott Executive Apartments and a normal Marriott hotel is not the bedroom.
It is the kitchen.
A full kitchen changes the usefulness of a hotel dramatically once a stay lasts more than a few nights.This was a proper residential-style kitchen rather than a minibar with ambitions.
There was enough equipment to prepare actual meals, and the apartment included the basic cookware, tableware and appliances expected from an extended-stay property.
That may not sound glamorous.
After two weeks of travel, being able to cook eggs without ordering room service can feel surprisingly luxurious.
Even more useful was the laundry setup.
In-room washing and drying facilities are one of the strongest reasons to choose this property for a longer stay in Seoul.The apartment had a washing machine and dryer, along with a full-size refrigerator and freezer.
This is the part of the hotel I would emphasize most strongly to anyone considering an extended stay.
Hotel laundry is convenient until you calculate what it costs to wash a week of ordinary clothing.
Having your own machine turns laundry from a financial decision into a household chore.
Not necessarily exciting.
Extremely useful.
The Room Problem: A Very Unpleasant Smell
My first apartment had one serious problem.
There was a persistent musty smell.
It had rained the previous day, and at first I wondered whether the humidity had temporarily affected the room.
But eventually the smell became strong enough that I stopped trying to explain it away and contacted the hotel.
The staff moved me to another apartment.
The replacement did not have the same open Yeouido Park view. The neighboring building was considerably more prominent from the windows.
That was fine.
A wall outside the window is much easier to solve than a room that smells unpleasant.
I closed the curtains.
Problem solved.
Importantly, I treat this as one room issue during one 2021 stay, not evidence that every apartment has the same problem.
The hotel also responded appropriately by moving me once I raised it.
Still, because this is an older property, I would pay attention to maintenance when checking in and speak to the front desk if anything feels wrong.
Wellness Facilities: One of the Best Reasons to Stay Here
This is where Marriott Executive Apartments becomes much more impressive.
The fitness center was excellent.
The fitness center is substantially more serious than the small gyms found in many Seoul hotels.The gym was spacious and had enough equipment to support an actual workout routine rather than a guilty fifteen minutes on a treadmill.
That is especially relevant for long-stay guests.
Marriott still lists Soo Fitness & Spa, indoor golf, sauna, swimming pool and whirlpool among the property’s current facilities. Its 2026 long-stay package also includes unlimited access to the fitness center, indoor swimming pool, sauna, golf range and squash court.
In other words, the wellness offering I liked in 2021 has not disappeared.
This is less a pool for floating around and more a pool where someone is probably timing their laps.The swimming pool is particularly good if you actually swim.
It is not designed primarily as a photogenic leisure pool.
It looks and feels like a place where people exercise.
When I visited early in the morning hoping to find it empty, another guest was already swimming serious laps.
I respected the commitment.
I also abandoned the dream of having the pool entirely to myself.
The pool area also included a hot-water facility, while the sauna was another strong part of the wellness setup during my stay.The sauna was spacious as well.
Taken together, the gym, pool and sauna are a major competitive advantage.
Many serviced apartments give you a kitchen.
Far fewer give you this level of fitness infrastructure.
Marriott Bonvoy: Much Better Than It Used to Be
This deserves a separate section because the rules have changed significantly since my stay.
When I stayed in 2021, Marriott Executive Apartments was one of the less appealing parts of Bonvoy for anyone chasing elite status.
The earning structure was weaker, and Elite Night Credits accumulated much more slowly than at standard Marriott hotels.
That was a meaningful disadvantage.
As of February 12, 2026, the situation has improved substantially.
Eligible Marriott Executive Apartments stays now earn:
1 Elite Night Credit per qualifying night, and
5 Marriott Bonvoy points per US dollar on qualifying spend.
That makes this hotel much easier for me to recommend today.
There is still an important caveat:
standard Marriott elite benefits are not formally provided at Marriott Executive Apartments.
So Platinum or Titanium members should not assume they will receive the usual package of guaranteed late checkout, breakfast, lounge access or suite upgrades.
I was Titanium during my 2021 stay and received a very generous Studio-to-1 Bedroom Executive upgrade.
I would treat that as a pleasant outcome, not a benefit future guests should demand.
But at least you no longer have to watch your elite-night progress crawl along simply because you chose an apartment.
That is a major improvement.
Park Cafe Breakfast: Much Better in 2026
Breakfast was one of the clearest differences between my original stay and my 2026 return.
During my 2021 weekday stay, Park Cafe was operating a relatively modest semi-buffet.
It covered the basics.
I had an omelet, bacon and enough food to start the day without complaint.
But it was not particularly memorable.
When I returned in August 2026, the setup was much more complete.
Park Cafe currently serves breakfast daily from 07:00 to 10:00.
Park Cafe felt considerably more complete when I revisited in 2026 than it had during my 2021 weekday stay.The restaurant itself is spacious, with large windows and enough distance between tables that breakfast does not feel claustrophobic.
That sounds like a minor detail until you encounter a crowded buffet at 8:30 in the morning.
Space is a breakfast amenity.
The current buffet is not especially meat-heavy, but the vegetable selection is broad and thoughtfully presented.The buffet was not built around huge quantities of meat.
Instead, I thought the stronger point was the variety of vegetables.
There was a colorful crudité presentation — effectively a rainbow of raw vegetables — along with salads and a wider cold selection than I expected.
This gave the breakfast a noticeably lighter character than many hotel buffets.
Sparkling wine at breakfast means a mimosa is available to anyone willing to accept that responsibility before 10 a.m.There was also sparkling wine.
Which means, naturally, there was the possibility of a mimosa.
This is not essential nutrition.
It is nevertheless information travelers may appreciate.
The blueberry slush was one of the more distinctive touches in the current breakfast buffet.The other memorable item was a blueberry juice slush.
Hotel breakfast buffets tend to converge toward the same formulas, so small touches like this are useful.
They give you something to remember beyond scrambled eggs.
My 2026 breakfast leaned heavily toward vegetables and lighter items, which suited the character of the buffet.My overall impression in 2026 was positive.
The breakfast is not the place I would send someone looking for enormous carving stations or a meat festival.
It is better described as:
spacious, balanced and slightly more distinctive than expected.
That is a meaningful improvement from what I experienced in 2021.
Is This a Good Hotel for First-Time Visitors to Seoul?
Possibly.
But it depends on the trip.
If your priorities are:
- palaces
- traditional neighborhoods
- late-night Myeongdong
- being able to walk to major tourist sights
then I would still choose a more central hotel.
But if you are staying a week or longer, I would give Yeouido much more consideration.
The extra space, kitchen, laundry, park access and fitness facilities start to matter every day.
And The Hyundai Seoul and IFC make the neighborhood much more useful for leisure travelers than the old stereotype of Yeouido as nothing but office towers.
This is especially strong for a family.
A separate bedroom after a child goes to sleep can be more valuable than marble in the lobby.
So can washing clothes without calling housekeeping.
Final Verdict: 8.5/10
Marriott Executive Apartments Seoul is not one of the newest or most fashionable Marriott properties in the city.
Its age shows.
My first room also had a genuine maintenance problem, and Marriott Executive Apartments still does not offer the full set of standard Bonvoy elite benefits.
But the strengths are unusually practical.
A 61-square-meter 1 Bedroom Executive Suite, full kitchen, in-room laundry, proper living room, serious gym, lap pool, sauna and a good Yeouido location make this a much more complete place to actually live than most Seoul hotels.
And Marriott’s 2026 Bonvoy changes removed one of my biggest historical objections.
You now earn one Elite Night Credit for every qualifying night.
That matters.
My rating is 8.5/10.
Not because the hotel is perfect.
Because it solves problems that newer and prettier hotels often do not.
You can cook.
You can wash clothes.
You can swim proper laps.
You can use a serious gym.
You can walk through Yeouido Park in the morning.
After enough days on the road, those things start sounding considerably more luxurious than another decorative cushion.
